Oak, lithicarpus

Oak is a tree or shrub. This tree/shrub is located in forest all across Michigan. There are approximately 600 extant oak species. Oaks have spirally arranged leaves or entire leaves with smooth margins. Oak trees produce both male and female leaves in the spring. Oaks produce and nut called an acorn, which are brown. Oak trees also produce sap which can be used to produce products like syrup.
