Summation

Benny Goodman changed the music industry during the 30's and revolutionized the way people perceive music. A pivotal moment in Goodman's career was when he performed at Carnegie Hall. This was the first time swing music was presented on a grand stage. This was a huge risk for Goodman because people weren't used to hearing this new style of Jazz, but many went crazy for the new sound. He pushed his career further by integrating his band. Surprisingly, the public didn't complain about his decision, which was a major step forward in breaking the color barrier. Vitals is extremely complementary and admires Benny Goodman. Throughout his article he picks quotes that compliment Benny's success and determination. He also chooses to explain Goodman's struggles in order to show how he overcame them and prove his strength. I agree with Vitals statements and strongly believe that Goodman had a major impact on the future of music. He was the first person to put a colored man in a white mans band, and helped pave the way for African American musicians. Benny taught people how to enjoy music and inspired many people throughout his life time.
