Compare and Contrast

If I had Benny Goodmans clarinet skills and influential personality, I would travel back to the 40's and carry on the legacy of Jazz. Benny kept Jazz from dying out by changing its form to produce swing music. I would continue this approach and tweak the sound to fit today's style. Jazz represents hard work and conveys raw emotion and should be more apparent in today's society.

If Benny Goodman made his success during the mid 1800's, he would be perceived as a traitor and wouldn't be as popular. Goodman was known for creating the first integrated band. During the early 1800's, African Americans were viewed as inferior and people would not have paid money to see a colored band. Goodman would not be respected as a white American and musician.
