Steve prefontaine

One very great track and field runner and also very good cross country runner is Steve Prefontaine also known is pre. Pre was born in coos bay Oregon in January 25, 1951. Pre did not join the track and cross country team until 1965 and when he joined he wasn't that good his best mile time was 5:01 which is fast but not fast enough to win a track meet. And the next year he ran he still wasn't that good. So over the summer his coach made him train very hard and it paid off because he went undefeated and won the state title. And the next year he did the same thing but won in the one and two mile. Steve went to college in Oregon and there he won 4 NCCA championships. Steve died after hitting a rock and flipping over he was 24 when this happened. One fact about pre is he won 120 out of the 153 races he ran.
