Analysis

At the end of the book evil has fully corrupted Jack and his group killing simon and piggy. Ralph the only sane person left, realizes when he meets the naval officer that evil was inherent in everyone just like piggy had mentioned before. The evil can be seen through the actions and words of the children in the book. Cruelty, betrayal and murder all show the evil corrupting the children’s thought process. Ralph weeping shows that he was not corrupted by evil since he realized in the end that they failed as a society. The downfall of the society was the innate evil coming out through some and slowly spreading to others. This quote can also be applied to mankind stating that evil is everywhere whether we like it or not.
