Mary Lyon (refer to picture in back of text) was a American pioneer woman born on February 28, 1797 in Buckland, MA. She had founded two colleges, Mount Holyoke, which was the first women's college in America , and Wheaton College. After he death is 1849, two years later, Edward Hitchcock made a book to honor her called, The Power of Christian Benevolence: The Life of Mary Lyon.

Thomas Gallaudet (refer to picture to the right) was born on December 10, 1787. He was a famous American pioneer and primary worked in the education of the deaf. Gallaudet has also created a method in educating people who are hearing impaired. He later went on to opening the Hartford School for the Deaf in 1817 and Gallaudet University in 1864.
