Who was Dr. Alexander Fleming and how was he important?
Dr. Alexander Fleming was the first to discover penicillin. He was working in his lab when he noticed that some colonies of staphylococcus had been contaminated by some mold that he later found out was called penicillium-the name was later changed to penicillin. He also discovered the the mold was preventing the growth of the staphylococci.
