William Lloyd Garrison: the most radical white abolitionist who started his own paper called The Liberator.

David Walker: a freed black man who advised blacks to fight for freedom rather than wait for slave owners to end slavery.

Frederick Douglas: he was a slave who was taught how to read and write by his owners wife. He later realized that knowledge could be his "pathway from slavery to freedom"
