The science behind the wave...
The earthquake was a 9.0 on the richter scale, that happened in an undersea trench that created a 133 ft tsunami that swept 50 miles inland, moving the main island of Japan a total of 8 feet, and moving the worlds very axis 4-10 inches. It was the fourth most powerful earthquake recorded in the world since the 1900's. It was caused by the strongest earthquake to hit Japan. In fact it was so powerful it generated sound waves that were picked up by an orbiting satellite. It was caused by the Pacific Ocean tectonic plate getting stuck to another plate then releasing suddenly, expelling pressure in a 9 magnitude earthquake, causing the tsunami.
