Economic effects

The event itself costed about $235 billion U.S. Dollars in total damage, the most expensive world disaster up to date. Everything up to 50 miles inland was damaged. Major roads and highways were damaged, even dams collapsed. Leaving 4.4 million households without electricity, and 1.5 million without water.. Insured losses were set at 14.5-34.6 billion dollars. And the bank of Japan paid 15 trillion yen ($183 billion U.S.) to stabilize their now failing market economy. The tsunami shut down much of Japans trade. Resulting in a loss of over $70 billion. This has affected Japan's economy terribly, but also that of other country's who rely on Japan's trade.
