The Battle of Lexington and Concord
April 19, 1775
This battle was fought on April 19, 1775. This was the first battle of The Revolutionary War. Tensions had been rising between the Patriots and the British. Hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord in order to seize an arm cache. Paul Revere and others sounded the alarm, and the colonial militiamen began mobilizing to intercept the Redcoat column. Soon, the British Army set out from Boston to capture rebel leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock in Lexington as well as destroy the Patriots store of weapons. This battle was important, because it was the first battle of The Revolutionary War.
