Setting

The Setting is the place or type of surroundings where something is positioned or where an event takes place. A good setting allows the author to incorporate imagery into the story, thus enhancing the readers ability to picture the story in their mind. In "Cask of Amontillado" the catacombs a great example for how the setting can easily allow the reader to visualize the story.
