Spanish and Portuguese Imperial Rule over Latin America
These territories were multicultural and ethnically mixed. According to the Treaty of Tordesillas, Spain got the west part of Latin America while Portugal got the east. The growth of both sides cities was largely expanded. Both Spanish and Portuguese wanted agricultural income. Spanish used the encomienda system to support the labor, mainly silver extraction. The Portuguese however used slaves for the production of sugar. However, both Spanish and Portuguese rules were imbibed with native influence in their ultimate outputs like culture and methodology.
