English Dutch and French Colonies vs. Spanish and Portuguese Colonies
English, Dutch, and French are 3 countries whose colonies were fairly peaceful.
-The original 13 colonies of the English maintained a steady and was an initially, friendly relationship
-The English also had a fast growth and maintained probably the most successful farming system.
-Dutch colonists were forced into a peace agreement with maroon communities
-French colonists valued a good relationship with Natives for a monopoly on the fur trade
-Had slow growth and maintained on fur trade
-Spanish colonists colonized with killing
-The Spanish and Portuguese saw the Natives as heathens
-They enslaved many of them for use
-They killed the Natives inhabiting the land, and ruled with an iron fist using them as slaves
-Although both successful, the Spanish and Portuguese were much more “cruel” in maintaining success
-English, French, and Dutch had a relatively peaceful relationship, at least at first
