Itching
- it can occur all over the body
- nerves send prickly feeling, usually controlled by histamines, send signals to the brain to cause an itchy feeling
- fibers in tissues that are sensitive to itches also exist
- some diseases include: scabies, rashes, hives, athletes foot, pink eye, head lice, allergies, STDs, eczema, psoriasis, etc.
- evolutionarily speaking, itching prevents mosquito and bug bites, poison ivy, etc.
- temporarily relieves pain
- itching can lead to severe complications but not directly death
- itching can be difficult to study because it has many different causes, is a symptom of many diseases and problems, and it is not considered a serious problem typically (since it happens all the time to everyone); likewise, many minute factors cause and create itches
- medicines involved with targeting histamine often help with itching, antibacterial medicines can help if the itch is caused by bacteria, etc.
