What is the Youth Criminal Justice Act?
Canada has had three different youth criminal justice statutes. From 1908-1984, we have had the Juvenile Delinquents Act, from 1984-2003, we have had the Young offenders act, and from 2003 till now we have had the Youth criminal justice act. The youth criminal act us the law that will govern Canada's youth justice system. It will apply to twelve - eighteen year olds who have committed a criminal offense.
