Reggae was originated in Jamaca in the late 1960s. Bob Marley said that the word ‘Raggae’ meant “The Kings Music”.



Reggae was infuencet by rock and pop music in 1950s, one example being ‘’Ob-LaPi-LaiDa’’ by the Beatles.
Famous Raggae Artists: Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Bounty Killer, Biju Banton,
Reggae lyrics talk about social criticism, love, and treating each other with respect. This was the main focus of the Raggae movement.



Many other kinds of music used raggae in their sound. The Police, Eric Clappton and many of the Punk bands of the 1970’s were examples of this.
