On March 22,1999, a living victim, Cynthia Vigil escaped after being kidnapped and tortured in a 3 day ordeal. To escape, Vigil waited until Ray went to work and then managed to get the keys from Rays accomplice Cindy Hendy. Hendy began to fight Vigil but she still managed to escape. She proceeded to stab Hendy in the neck with an ice pick. Vigil ran away naked only wearing and iron slave collar and pad locked chains. Ray and Hendy were arrested the next day.
