Diagonal Short Layer Technique

🍃Create a center part

🍃Create basic sections 5 & 6, all the hair above the parietal ridge should be isolated

Create a Guide

🍃Start on the clients right side of the head

🍃Apply a 1/2" to 1" diagonal subsection

🍃Use fine teeth of comb to position the hair T to the section

🍃Use fingers to hold the hair at 90 degrees, T to the section, hold with medium and even tension

Cut the Hair

🍃Use primary scissor position

🍃Cut the length you want to use as a guide

🍃As you cut, your scissors and fingers holding the hair are parallel to the parting

🍃Cut from top to bottom if right handed and bottom to top if your left-handed

🍃Comb the guide down to check how it falls, adjust as necessary

🍃Pickup some of the guide and then then the next 1/2" to 1" diagonal subsections, parallel to the first

🍃Hold the subsections at 90 degrees and cut the guide

🍃Continue cutting diagonal subsections until you reach the enter of the back

🍃Repeat cutting diagonal layers at 90degrees on the left side

🍃Check the cut, paying particular attention to the center back area to ensure that the connection of the right to the left side is even

Connection

🍃Create a safety section and cut the front perimeter to the desired length

🍃Create center part - hairline to crown

🍃Comb center back hair - distribute evenly

🍃Create 1" center subsections behind the ear-to-ear parting

🍃Pick up subsection and hair underneath

🍃Hold at comb elevation cut to guide

🍃Move to right

🍃Rectangle, pie, pie, rectangle, rectangle

🍃Move to the left side & repeat

🍃Rectangle, pie, pie, rectangle, rectangle

🍃Cut at comb elevation to guide

🍃Hold at 90 degrees

🍃Layer the top

🍃Clean up the perimeter

🍃Cross check using horizontal subsections
