Large Intestine

After the material is pushed out of the small intestine, it enters the large intestine. The main job of the large intestine is to absorb the water out of the material until it becomes solid. It can take up 3 days for the large intestine to absorb the excess water. Once the material is solidified, muscles in the anus and rectum release the material from your body in the form of feces.
