Conflict

In this story the conflict Jerry faces is that he can not hold his breathe long enough to swim through the underwater tunnel like the other foreign boys. the conflict is man vs. himself,his body literally won't let him make it all the way through the tunnel. It's both an internal and external conflict because he wants to prove to himself that he fits in, but he also physically needs the lung power to do it.
