The Eureka hotel

The Eureka hotel was a place where miners and government officials would go after a hard days work. One day a miner called James Scobie was killed after a dispute at the Hotel. The owner of the hotel, James Bentley, was among those tried for Scobie's death. When Bentley went to trial, the government knew that he had killed Scobie, but they still let him off. When the miners heard this they were furious.
