Geronimo
Geronimo was a prominent Apache leader.
He was the most feared and infamous Native American. He was well known for fighting against daunting odds and escaping many times from reservations before his surrender in 1886.
After he was taken prisoner, he became a 'celebrity' and appeared in fairs and parades but he was never allowed to return to his homeland.
He died in Fort Sill, OK in 1909. His last words were "I should have never surrendered. I should have fought until I was the last man alive."
