Alchesay
William Alchesay was born in 1853. He joined the Indian Scouts at 19 and served for 33 years.
He fought with abandon against the savages that threatened the peace of the settlers.
He received a Congressional Medal of Honor for his conduct in 1872-1873.
After being discharged from the scouts, Alchesay became a prominent reservation Indian and rancher in the White Mountian. He passed away on Aug. 6, 1928.
