Mangas Coloradas

Mangas Coloradas was an Apache Chief from 1837 to his death in 1863.

He is considered to be one of the most important Native American leaders in the 19th century due to his fighting achievements against the Mexicans and Americans.

He signed a peace treaty in 1846 with the US government that lasted until 1860.

He was murdered in 1863 and his death created 25 years of violence between the US and the Apache.
