Geronimo

In May 1882 the U.S army surprised Geronimo in his mountain sanctuary and he agreed to return to the reservations. He farmed for a year and later fled on May 17, 1885 with 35 warriors and 109 men, women, and children. Geronimo then surrendered March 25, 1886 to General George Crook. Geronimo later fled again but surrendered to General Nelson Miles on September 4, 1886. Later Geronimo and 450 Apache men, women, children were sent to Florida in Forts Marion and Pickens. Then later in 1884 the were removed to Fort Sills in Oklahoma and he became a rancher.
