What are the parts of the large intestine?

The large intestine is shorter and thicker than the small intestine. The cecum is the first part of the large intestine. It is also the shortest part of the large intestine, and it connects directly to the small intestine.
The colon is the widest part in the large intestine. The water and minerals (such as salt) are absorbed and carried to the body.
The last part is the rectum, and it has strong muscles to push the feces out of the body. This is called elimination.
