Historical/ Social Context
Urinetown is musical that satirizes the legal system, social irresponsibility, bureaucracy, corporate management, and civil politics. It is set in the future with a town having to deal with the consequences of a 20 year drought. It reflects money-obsessed businessmen and the corruption of people in power. This musical also shows how the poor suffer and the rich gain benefits. Urinetown also emphasizes the idea of the poor rebelling against the rich.
