Final Paragraph

The overall aesthetic is futuristic/gritty. The show depicts a dystopian society that has suffered greatly. The townspeople are forced to pay to use the restroom, and the people who protest against authority are killed in a disturbing way. The main focus is to show the division of power between the poor and the rich; the poor have virtually none compared to the wealthy people. This causes the poor to rise up against authority in other to gain their basic rights back. Urinetown is a place where everyone is curious about, but the harsh reality of Urinetown is revealed when they realize people are killed there. The poor people are blinded by their ideas of revenge and forget the purpose of their rebellion. Urinetown describes an exaggerated version of the future, and it outlines things that have happened and things that could happen in reality. For example, the poor rebelling against the rich and people taking dramatic measures in order to conserve resources.
