Maya Cities

Maya cities had grand buildings like large stone pyramids, temples, and palaces. Some of these buildings honored Maya kings. Maya artists decorated temples and palaces with carvings and colorful paintings. The Maya also built structures that would also improve their life. They built plazas and canals. The Maya cities had a ball court where people watch ball games in these large stone arenas. Each had its own government and king.
