First power was gained in the Ganges River Valley. Later conquered up to the Deccan Plateu.

First ruler of the Maurya Empire was Chandragupta. He was a harsh ruler.

Soon Asoka, Chandragupta's grandson became ruler, with different beliefs in ruling.

Buddhism started being spread through missionaries lead by Asoka.

The system of government was a Bureaucracy.
