Asoka

Made "Asoka's Laws" which spread to more than 30 places throughout India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

Asoka was Chandragupta's grandson, and disagreed with the harsh rulings his grandfather acquired. He was peaceful and prosperous.

Asoka turned to Buddhism, and sent out missionaries to spread Buddhism. He practiced religious tolerance.

These laws reflected the religion of Buddhism. Some of them were written in Greek and Aramaic, but mostly Sanskrit. Each stupa, or pillar, was 40-50 feet high.

After his death, the empire declined.
