COSHH

What is it?

It is the controlling of substances that are hazardous to health, it is required by law to be carried out by employers.

Employers are required to:

Identify the chemicals within the work place that are hazardous to the health of the employees.
Determine who exactly is at risk, what the risk is and how high the risk is to them.
Stop identified exposure, find ways to reduce or control the exposure.
Display a COSHH information poster.

Employees are required to:

Follow all instruction that are given from the employer.
Avoid all chemicals that are not needed to complete the job and chemicals that are not needed at all.
Wear appropriate PPE e.g a lab coat.
