The Growth of towns
3
Most Texans began moving towns from farms and ranches. Fewer than 13,000 people lived in Texas towns in 1850, but by 1860, there were about 26,000. However by 1960, San Antonio had a population of more than 8,000 people which was considered as the largest town. At this time, German immigrants made up a large part of the population in San Antonio.
There were 2 manufacturing facilities:
~ One in Houston that made hats
~ Textile factory in Henderson.
