Barbara Jordan

She was a lawyer, and she would help the poor people in her town. She was in the Texas Senate (1966), and the House of Representatives (1973). She was brave since she had to face being to first black woman in the House of Representatives. Also, she had to preserve herself to make it into the Senate in the first place, because she had two unsuccessful elections before she finally became a member. Jordan impacted the Texas and the American society by blazing the path for African Americans in Texas legislature.
