Ideological Rivalry Between U.S. and Soviet Union
U.S. had a free market economy. This meant that private enterprises competed with each other. The government did not have much control of the economy.
The government was very involved in the economy in the Soviet Union. Wanted a more productive economy with balanced growth. They wished to be on par with the United States economically.
United States had a democratic republic. This meant that the people elected representatives, and had a say in the government. They also tried to contain communist spread.
Soviets had a communist government. This meant that the people were all supposed to be equal; however, this was not always the case. The Soviets tried to spread communism to countries that were near them.
