Involvement in Wars
Alexander ii was only involved in one war.
He was involved in the Crimean War, which lasted from 1853 to 1856. He filled his father's place as Czar of Russia at the very end of the war.
Russia was horribly defeated by the Alliance if Britten, Sardinia, France and Ottoman Empire. The Austrian Empire was not formal apart of the alliance, but they did assist in the down fall of Russia.
The reason that the war began was that Ottoman Empire controlled the "Holy Land" witch the British and the French want the area to be Catholic. But, the Russians wanted the area to be Orthodox. With the decline of the Ottoman Empire, war erupted.
By the end of the war 100,00s of 1,000 were killed on both sides. The Russia navy in the Black Sea was all but gone. The was ended by the Treaty of Pairs.
