Structure of Society
Feudalism had a dramatic effect on Europe. It created a social hierarchy and formed the social structure that lated in the Middle Ages. Feudalism caused the economy to be based on land ownership and
service. The Feudal system was constructed mainly for security. Nobles wanted to maintain control of lands and peasants wanted security (protection) from invaders which was provided by nobles in exchange for money/service. Kings give land and titles to nobles who provide soldiers; gives charters and protection to towns who also give soldiers that serve the king. The nobles then provide land and legal protection to peasants in exchange for service (serve as soldiers in times of war).
