Treaty of Paris 1783 and the thirteen Colonies

The American colonists won this territory in the American Revolution, and Great Britain agreed to giving it to 'em because of the treaty.

The treaty ended the Revolutionary War on Sept. 3, 1783. It was signed in Paris by the following. Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay.

This little beauty gave all British troops the boot! And got the thirteen colonies expanded! Yay! The borders they set were from the land of the Great Lakes in the north, and down to Florida on the south, and from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mississippi River. And yes, the Treaty of Paris happened after they settled in Massachusetts, but Britain owned the states until the Treaty was signed and the war was won.

The Thirteen Colonies were part of the territory won in the American Revolution. The original thirteen colonies were: Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia.

The territory outlined in red on the map is the land America owned after the Revolutionary War. The parts that are a slightly darker shade of red are the original Thirteen Colonies.
