Facts on Manifest destiny

A little info about Manifest Destiny: It wasn't always known as Manifest Destiny as it was happening. The term Manifest Destiny occurred in the 1840's. Manifest Destiny is a belief that the United States has the right to expand to the Pacific Ocean. Manifest Destiny was also thought to be about bringing Anglo-Saxon American's civilizations and institutions across America. The term was first brought on by John L. O'Sullivan in an article on the annexation of Texas, in the June-August edition of the United States Magazine and Democratic Review.

This painting by John Gast visualizes the idea of Manifest Destiny extremely well. The Americans are reaching out to explore the unknown, and making the nation expand. If you're rich or poor, it doesn't matter. You're all in the same journey. All with freedom and liberty leading the way.
