The idea of power to the people that Gutenberg started wasn't such a bad one. Soon there were people that were desperate to go to heaven, but they weren't so nice during their time. Lucky for them they had money. They were able to go to the pope and by their way into heaven by getting an indulgence. They were buying a ticket to get past the Purgatory.
