Liturgy of the Word

First Reading- A story or letter from the Old Testament

When the lector at the ambo is finished he/she says,
"The Word of The Lord"

And the clergy replies,
"Thanks be to God"

Gospel- a story from the New Testament describing Jesus' life

When the priest is about to read, he announces which Gospel the reading is from. In response, we make a cross on our forehead lips, and heart as we say,
"Glory to you O Lord" When it is finished, the priest says, "The Word of The Lord" The clergy says, "Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ"
