In chapter three after dinner Calvin and Meg did homework together. Calvin had trouble with his work and Meg helped him, she was good at the math and Calvin is in high school. Calvin had asked whys she is failing in school and Meg's mother replied with "Meg is a very smart girl but she likes to do things her own way, her and her father always took shortcuts through work and she likes do things her way."
