The First Battle of the Marne was fought 5 September to 12 September 1914. It was fought between, France and Britain against the German Empire. It was fought along the norther border of France and Belgium. It resulted in 81,700 deaths for the Allies and there was also 256,000 German deaths. After seven days of battle the Allies were victorious. It kept the Germans back longer till the Russians could arrive.

The Second Battle of the Marne was fought 15 July – 6 August 1918. It was fought between France, Britain, Italy and U.S.A. against the German Empire. It was fought along the norther border of France and Belgium. It resulted in 132,717 deaths for the Allies and there was 168,000 German soldiers were lost due to death or injury. After twenty-one days of battle the Allies were victorious. The battle was the last major battle of the War.
