Decomposition and the Nitrogen Cycle
Decomposition is how the nitrogen gets returned to the soil. Bacteria in the soil breaks down the particles and the nitrogen is able ot return to the air to restart the nitrogen cycle. Also, the nitrogen is needed by plants and animals to create proteins.i
