Geopolitical and Ideological Rivalry

The United States of America did not like communism and wanted to prevent the Soviet Union from spreading communism. Because communism was opposite of capitalism, it caused a rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union. The communism in the Soviet Union gave a lot of power to the government, while capitalism and democracy gave a balance of power to the people and the government in the United States. The United States wanted to spread democracy while the Soviet Union wanted to spread communism.
