The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was a military alliance that was primarily based on the North Atlantic Treaty. NATO was signed in April 4, 1949. It was comprised of countries primarily from Eastern Europe and North America. The Warsaw Pact was a defense treaty between eight communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe that existed during the Cold War. It was mainly for Soviet's wish of controlling military forces in Europe.
