-Conditions during World War One for the American military were harsh to say the least

-Death was all around these soldiers along with disgusting living conditions

- America jumped into the war late compared to its allies, so trench warfare was already established by American comrades such as France and Belgium.

-In the small living spaces that the trenches provided, people were dying every day, some days many dead were laying in the trenches while others lived on.

- The trenches were also infested by rats that carried diseases on them. They
would reproduce in hundreds and would live in mass numbers in the trenches.
