Alec is Isabelle's brother.He like his sister is a ShadowHunter. Alec and Jace are like brothers after Jace's father died their parents took Jace in.

Isabelle Lightwood
Isabelle is Alec's sister. Like him she is a ShadowHunter. She was the only girl in their group of 3 until Clary came along.

Simon Lewis
Simon is Clary's best friend since first grade. Simon is a mundane meaning he can't see ShadowHunters only Clary. If a ShadowHunter wants him to see them they use a rune.

Jocelyn Fray
Jocelyn is Clary's mom who is a painter, but once she was a ShadowHunter. Jocelyn while at the NYC Instute fell in love with Valentine. They had a son who died in a fire he was 1 year older than Clary. She left Valentine in order to keep the cup and humans safe. She began taking Clary to Magnus Bane every two years to keep her memories of the Shadow World repressed.
