Malala's father has a huge impact on her life. As a child he struggled with a stutter but, challenged himself to make speeches in front of large audiences. This inspired Malala to persevere throughout her years of school and finished at the top of her class no matter what obstacles fell in her path to success.

Growing up in a school her father owned and taught in, Malala learned early the skills needed to exceed in school and everyday life. Her father was also in multiple groups opposed to the jihadi regime also known as the Taliban.
